Job Description
Introduction
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Microsoft Purview Engineer (L1 Analyst) to support day-to-day compliance, data protection, and information governance operations within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. The role is responsible for monitoring and triaging Microsoft Purview alerts, handling service tickets, collecting evidence for investigations, supporting end-user queries, and escalating security, privacy, and data leakage incidents to L2/L3 teams. The ideal candidate should possess a foundational understanding of Microsoft 365 services, Microsoft Purview solutions, and data privacy concepts, including awareness of India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and triage Microsoft Purview alerts related to:
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)Information Protection and Sensitivity LabelsInsider Risk and compliance-related events (as applicable)
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

- Perform initial investigation and analysis of DLP incidents and policy violations.
- Create, update, and manage incident and service tickets in accordance with defined SLAs.
- Collect and document evidence required for compliance reviews, audits, and investigations.
- Support basic eDiscovery and Audit Log search requests under the guidance of senior team members.
- Assist users with sensitivity label issues, DLP policy notifications, and compliance-related queries.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports and dashboards.
- Maintain incident documentation, knowledge base articles, and operational procedures.
- Escalate complex incidents, policy violations, or suspected data leakage events to L2/L3 teams.
- Support compliance and privacy initiatives aligned with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in shift handovers and operational reviews as required.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in Microsoft 365 administration, compliance operations, security monitoring, or a related domain.
- Experience working in a ticketing and incident management environment.
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exposure to Microsoft Purview Compliance Portal.
- Microsoft Security, Compliance, or Microsoft 365 certifications (preferred).
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools.
- Knowledge of data classification and information governance practices.
