The Challenge

The client, a prominent NBFC in India, was scaling its internal eLearning system for training and certifying employees. This platform, accessible via mobile and web apps, was generating and storing large volumes of data including:

The company also required comprehensive, secure logging for auditing and compliance, but lacked a cost-effective, scalable, and secure storage structure.

Delivery

Saints & Masters designed a scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud architecture on AWS to manage the client's growing eLearning platform and logging requirements.

·       Centralized Storage with Amazon S3

o   All application data such as learning materials, receipts, certificates, and images were stored on Amazon S3. Frequently accessed data used by S3 Standard, while older or less-used data was moved to S3 Standard-IA to reduce storage costs.

·       Automated Backup & Archiving

o   Backup strategies were implemented using S3 lifecycle policies to automatically transition and archive data, ensuring durability and easy recovery when needed.

·       Application Hosting & Database

o   The platform was hosted on Amazon EC2, with Amazon RDS managing structured data. An Application Load Balancer ensures high availability and smooth traffic distribution.

·       Centralized Logging & Monitoring

o   Logs from multiple services were collected using Amazon CloudTrail and VPC Flow Logs and stored securely in S3 for auditing and compliance.

·       Security Enhancements

o   AWS WAF was deployed to protect applications from common web threats, ensuring secure access to the platform.

·       Cost Optimization with Automation

o   Amazon Event Bridge and AWS Lambda were used to automatically stop non-essential EC2 instances during off-hours, significantly reducing operational costs.
